You can ascend the fort from two flanks of the hill; one is relatively easy but the other is tough. There are two oil godowns at the fort and a Varadharaja temple. This apart there are two official buildings and a memorial park.

From Sankaragiri, you could visit the Mettur Dam. The charming hill resort, Yercaud is close by too.

At approximately 2 kms north of the fort is the village called Shiveshvar that has the fortress called Kot Shiveshvar (mentioned in the Mangalore Treaty between Tipu Sultan and the East India Company, as well as in earlier historical accounts). This was built exclusively for guarding the northern borders of Canara (Kanada). It was built by the Bijapur Sultanate and subsequently its fortunes were connected to the Sadashivgad Fort. Reis Magos Fort,

From its origin as a defense fortress, to being used as a jail and then a hospital, the fort has served the state since 1493. It was abandoned in 1993 and started showing signs of neglect and deterioration.
This is when the late Mario Miranda, who was the convener of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), approached Lady Hamlyn of the Helen Hamlyn trust (HHT) to fund the restoration of the fort.
This is an attempt to show how monuments can be used and what their regeneration can do to a community. It's about making monuments come alive and be used by the city and the community. Heritage gives you a sense of who you are. It's about identity

The name Reis Magos came from the church next door, which symbolized the Three Wise Men who went to Bethlehem. Once it was a formidable fortress. It may not be as luxurious and well looked after as the Terekhol or the Fort Aguada; still Reis Magos Fort, over the centuries, has maintained its allure due to its location. It has been restored into a fine looking monument, one which has all the ingredients for being the perfect solution for a holiday.

Rajagopala Beerangi is massive cannon in Beerangi Medu

Rajagopala Beerangi is massive cannon in Beerangi Medu, Thanjavur which takes pride of place at the eastern gate of the Fort here. This amazing cannon, which was cast in 1620, speaks wonders of the metallurgical skills of the people of Thanjavur during that time. Apparently, they enlisted Danish technical know-how to cast the cannon. Cannon is a huge sized and qualitative display of workmanship at the top of the East Kothalam.

Pavagada fort

Pavagada is known for infamous reasons. Few decades ago, it had a reputation of being the home of wolves that used to carry children. But it was long ago and remained as mystery. Naxals, who are far more dangerous, have also given a bad name to this place.

Information about an old fort in the town of Pavagada made us (I, Aishwarya and Krishna) to visit the place.

The route we took was Bengaluru->Dabaspet->Madhugiri->Pavagada fort. On the way, few snaps were taken of the sun flowers near Madhugiri.

Chitradurga is a two hour drive from Pavagada at 109 km distance and is a place of historical and religious importance from the time of the Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas and the Hoysalas, but it flourished most during the Vijayanagara rule. Chandravalli with ancient archaeological sites and caves, the nearby Aadumalleshwara Temple with a perennial stream flowing from Nandi Bull’s mouth, the hill station of Jogimatti at a distance of 10 km from Chitradurga…are just amazing places for tourists to visit. Rock-climbing, trekking and camping at Jogimatti Reserve Forest near Chitradurga Town, along with the grand sites of its fort and temples is a very enriching experience for tourists coming to this part of Karnataka in South India. It is a great destination for adventure sports lovers.

At around 65 km from Pavagada and 120 km from Bangalore is Lepakshi; although a small village it has an extraordinary history. The temples of Leepakshi were built by the Vishwakarma Brahmins and are a superb display of their dedication towards their faith and beliefs.
