Navilateerth is a small place near Saundatti in Belgaum. Dam on the River malaprabha, Renuka Saagar reservoir are the places to see. About 85 KMS from Belgaum and Hubli, Navilateerth is a picnic spot and is very picturesque as it is located in a low valley between 2 hills.
The Navilatirtha Dam has a storage capacity of 1.07 km³. It irrigates more than 2,000 square kilometers of land. This reservoir is called Renukasagara. The Renukasagara formed by the Navilatirtha Dam touches the low lying areas of Saundatti. At Saundatti there is the famous Renuka (Yallamma) Temple at Yallammagudda. This is a pilgrimage center for thousands of devotees. Here, there is a place called Jogulabhavi. Pilgrims take a holy dip here before visiting the Yellamma Temple. The scenic landscape in this area is ideal for picnics and relaxation.
