Shathanala Project is an Medium Irrigation Project constructed across Sathnala river near Kapna (V), Jainath(M), Adilabad District.This Project was commissioned in Dec.1977 vide G.O.Ms.No. 941 dt: 14.12.1978 to irrigate an ayacut of 240000 Ac.
In precedent rains in the year 1995 the maxium flood discharge was observed as 53285 cuses. To accommodate extra flood i.e 8280 cuses a Saddle dam was formed on left flank for a length of 210 m with 1 m head of discharge.
The Government has accorded administrative approval for 1137.74 Crores for Projects
Located near Kapna village at a distance of 16 Kms from Adilabad is the Sathnala dam, built across the river Sathnala. It is a famous picnic spot.
