Bhoothathankettu Dam, Pindimana, Kerala.

Bhoothathankettu Dam, Pindimana, Kerala.
Bhoothathankettu is a dam and tourist spot in Kerala, India. It is situated outside the village of Pindimana, about 10 km away from the town of Kothamangalam and 50 km away from the main city of Kochi.
Large blocks of imperfectly shaped boulders can be seen placed on both sides of the Periyar River to form a dam, making it look like a natural dam built by super humans. The name ‘Bhoothathan Kettu’ means ‘monster fort’ and past generations believed bhoothams (demons) built it.
The dam here is built by placing unshaped stones on both sides of the Periyar river and is one of the oldest existing European structures in Kochi. There is an artificial pond with pedal boating facility which can take a 20-minute boat ride to the nearby Thattekkad bird sanctuary. There is also a well-maintained Childrens Park.
