Mangalam dam is constructed across the river Cherukunnapuzha which is a tributary of Mangalam river. A canal system for irrigation purpose was completed and opened in 1966, in the Alathur taluk of Palakkad district in Kerala, South India.

Mangalam Dam rests amidst rubber, pepper, coffee and tapioca plantations which add an abundance of greenery to this region and a lot of commercial value too. The Kadappara area here also has a forest. Those interested in anthropology will be interested to know that many Adivasis (tribals) live deep in this forest. You will also come across a petite little waterfall here. The park is enriched with wildlife like deer, elephants and a variety of birds.
