Bekal Fort, is the largest fort in Kerala, 300-year-old Bekal Fort, shaped like a giant key at Bekal village in Kasaragod district, North Kerala and it is 67 km from Mangalore spreading over 40 acres.
The fort was constructed with the express purpose of defense needs.

Surrounded by a splendid beach, the historic Bekal Fort offers a superb view of the Arabian Sea from its tall observation towers, where a few centuries ago huge cannons used to be placed
The best time to visit Bekal Fort would be between September and April. The nearest towns are Kanhangad (8 km) and Kasargod (18 km), both of which are well connected by train and bus. The nearest airports are Mangalore International Airport (60 km) and Karipur International Airport (180 km).
