Gorur dam, Gorur, Karnataka.
Gorur Dam, built on the River Hemavathi in the 1900s, is a popular destination especially during the monsoon season. At 146 ft height it stands out in the terrain forming the Hemavathi Reservoir.
If the tourists want to relax for a while from visiting many pilgrim centers and temples in Hassan, they can stop over the Gorur Dam. Gorur is just a small hamlet nearby Hassan. The dam and its surroundings are ideal place for picnicking. This dam is built over Hemavathy River and serves as a reservoir. The temples like Yoganarasimha and Paravasudeva are also located in Gorur.
The various dams built on the rivers traversing through Southern Karnataka are very much a part of the history and culture of this state.
