Fort Immanuel, Ernakulam / Kochi, Kerala.
Fort Emmanuel also known as Immanuel Fort is a ruined fort located at the Fort Kochi beach of Fort Kochi on the shores of the Arabian Sea in Kochi city, Kerala, India.
Fort Immanuel in Kochi dates back to 1503. It was constructed by the Portuguese as a symbol of the strategic pact between the Maharaja of Cochin and the Ruler of Portugal and named after the Potuguese king, Immanuel.
By 1806, the fort was in pieces. Now, only remnants can be seen on the Fort Kochi beach. Some relics are kept in the basement of the Indo-Portuguese Museum at the Bishop’s House.
